At the beginning of the year, I decided to paint only flowers local to my region..... buuuuut I couldn't resist the Protea. 
 
Flowers like cups of light. Layered petals both prickly and frilly looking at the same time. Earthy. A white sundress. Soft but sharp. Moving in the light. Always something new to see at every angle.
 
That about sums it up...
