THE ARTIST + HER WORK
THE ARTIST
Blair Kawa is known primarily for her floral paintings rendered in a deeply layered style that captures the movement of light, the passage of time, and the fragility of beauty.

She considers her work a "fem reinvention" of the Cubist style. It transposes the fractured, movement driven style of the post war era through a distinctly feminine lens. This Bold Femininity celebrates the power of softness and elegance in an often aggressive and harsh world.
BOTANICALS
Blair finds endless inspiration in nature; in light and shadow; in the strange, imperfect beauty of the plant world; in the way things are always passing & changing.
Her work is influenced by Japanese woodblock prints, stained glass, quilting, Southern humidity, & cut paper.
PORTRAITS
Working in oil, Blair paints children, pets, and loved ones with relaxed expressions authentic to their personalities. Her style is characterized by confident, loose brushwork and a "glowing" quality.
