THE ARTIST

Hey Y'all.  I'm an emerging Southern artist from the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. 

 

I'm enthralled by the interplay of color, chroma, light, opacity, and form.  It's all a beautiful balance of "rightness" and "wrongness."  Harmony and friction.

 

My art is inspired by the passage of time and movement of light.  In that way, it falls under the tradition of Cubism.  Also I LOVE the sharp edges of cut paper.  Learning--from practice--how to achieve that cut-paper-inspired smoothness of color, layering of opacity, and sharpness of edge has been my obsession for several years.

BOTANICALS

Flowers and landscapes are usually the material for my work. I like to break apart the faces of light on the subject and make it almost dance in the sun.

PORTRAITS

I work in both oils and watercolors.

My watercolor portraits include kids, families, and pets.

​

In addition to personal commissions, I have done big events for corporate clients and welcome weddings, showers, parties and higher education event collaborations as well.
